Traffic Lights

I am with you in every step you take. Placing one foot delicately, In front of the other. Touching the air with the soles of your feet, Kicking back past memories, Like particles of dust in the air.

Sitting down to stop traffic.  Feeling the heavy air ruffle your locks, As cars swerve to keep your scalp in place. Honking, Yelling at you to get back up, Keep moving like the rest of them.

But it’s too late, You’ve already put the headphones on, And let the sound waves take you away, Past the traffic jam, Speeding past the red lights, Crashing into silence.

Thoughts welcome.
